We invest in and incubate technology companies

Spin Up Capital is a private investment and incubation firm. Backed by Blue Brick Partners and Ryan Armstrong, we fund and build proptech, construction technology, and data-driven software businesses.

Our Portfolio

Investment and incubation, grounded in operating experience

Spin Up Capital is a private investment and incubation firm structured as a capital group rather than a traditional fund. Capital comes directly from Blue Brick Partners and Ryan Armstrong, and is deployed into specific deals through GP/LP and JV LLC structures. That structure lets us move quickly, align tightly with founders, and stay involved at the operating level when it matters.

Our background is real estate. James has managed billions in multi-family assets and helped build software platforms supporting millions of apartment units. Ryan ran regional operations across single-family portfolios while developing proprietary analytics tools to improve performance. That operating depth informs how we evaluate, build, and run technology companies, particularly in proptech, construction technology, and real estate data analytics.

Software where the work actually happens

Three areas where operating depth, data, and software compound on each other.

Proptech and real estate software

Tools that give investors, agents, and operators a clearer view of single-family real estate. We are most useful where a software platform replaces a manual process the team is already doing in spreadsheets.

Construction technology

Project management, budget intelligence, draws, lien waivers, and field reporting for residential builders. We back products built around how builders actually run their jobs, not how a software vendor wishes they would.

Real estate data analytics

Property-level data infrastructure and analytics that turn millions of records into faster decisions. The investment thesis lives where data quality, workflow, and pricing intersect.

Our Portfolio

RedTools is our flagship investment. BuilderGrid is in early-stage incubation and currently raising seed capital.

Primary Holding

RedTools

RedTools Pro / FairValue

RedTools is a real estate technology platform with two core products. RedTools Pro gives investors, agents, and analysts single-family property intelligence for faster decisions, while FairValue streamlines property tax protest workflows to reduce effort and improve outcomes.

Incubation

BuilderGrid

Construction PM without the spreadsheet chaos.

BuilderGrid is a construction project management platform for residential builders. It replaces spreadsheet-driven budgets, draws, and field operations with a single system that ties budget intelligence, lien waivers, and field reporting together, eliminating the manual reconciliation that costs builders time and margin.

Work that exists to serve a community

Some ventures are not about returns. We back them when the work and the founders justify it, and we measure success by whether they break even and whether the people using them are better off for them existing.

Passion Project

SlashCamp

More time playing, less time logging into apps.

SlashCamp is a TTRPG creation and campaign management platform with a creator marketplace to help players discover and hire great GMs/DMs. It lowers adoption friction for new players and gives existing groups a one-stop system for setup, coordination, and play continuity.

Leadership

James Williamson

Managing Partner & Board Member

James Williamson is a real estate executive and technology entrepreneur with deep experience across multi-family operations, development, and proptech. He has managed over $7 billion in multi-family assets as part of Starwood's Highmark Residential and worked on the development of hundreds of millions of dollars of multi-family, mixed-use, and hospitality projects.

A builder at heart, James helped create software platforms that support millions of apartment units nationwide, bridging the gap between property operations and data-driven decision-making. He founded Blue Brick Partners as a staffing company for the apartment industry, growing it into a private equity and holding company that invests across diverse industries and asset classes.

At Spin Up Capital, James drives financial modeling, business viability, go-to-market strategy, and product design, applying the same operational rigor and technology-first mindset that has defined his career.

Ryan Armstrong

Partner

Ryan Armstrong is a real estate entrepreneur and technologist who blends operational experience with data-driven strategy. With more than 15 years in property management, construction, and systems development, he approaches investments as scalable businesses rather than static assets.

After serving as a U.S. Army Intelligence Analyst, Ryan built a career modernizing real estate operations, rising to Senior Regional leadership roles while developing proprietary analytics and workflow tools to improve performance and profitability. His background in full-stack engineering and product management enables Spin Up Capital to leverage technology at every stage of the investment lifecycle.

At Spin Up, Ryan drives deal analysis, operational infrastructure, and technology integration, creating repeatable systems that turn complex opportunities into measurable returns.
